Freda WILSON, 89, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at Park Place Elder Living (note: in Henry Co., IA).

Arrangements are in the care of Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant.

Freda J. WILSON

Freda J. WILSON, 89, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at Park Place Elder Living.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Mike Hess officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Visitation will begin after 1 p.m. Thursday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant, where the family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m.

Memorials can be given to Calvary Baptist Church. Online condolences can be made at www.olsonpowell.com.

Born Sept. 22, 1926, in Montgomery County, Illinois, Freda Jane was the daughter of Jerry Simpson and Lurana Jane OWENS.

She attended Ramsey High School in Ramsey, Illinois.

She was employed in the payroll department of Vega Industries and later Heatilator in the 1970s and 1980s. She took classes at Indian Hills College in Ottumwa to assist her with her job.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She was a supporter of the Republican Party, liked to travel, and was an avid fan of "Jeopardy" and "Fox News." She enjoyed oil painting, flower gardening and crocheting, especially blankets and pillows. She collected wooden and ceramic ducks and demitasse spoons.

Survivors include: one son, Frederick Alan LOVELACE of Edgewater, Florida; one daughter, Toi Ann MILLS and husband Jimmie Dean of Mt. Pleasant; one stepson, Gary Eugene WILSON and wife Tami of Anderson, Indiana; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her twin brother, Frederick Jerry OWENS; a brother, Howard OWENS; a sister, Thelma "Tom" LOURASH; and a grandson.
