Roger M. ELLIOTT

Roger M. ELLIOTT, 62, of West Point, died at 9:14 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2016, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington (note: in Des Moines Co., IA) after a 1.5-year battle with cancer.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Harrisburg Baptist Church, north of Bonaparte, with the Rev. Mark Caston and the Rev. David Glavin officiating. Burial will in (sic) Vale Cemetery, east of the church (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Visitaiton will open at 2 p.m., Thursday, with family present 5-7 p.m., at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Gifts to a memorial to be designated later by the family can be left at the funeral home or church or mailed to the family at 2493 Henry Lee St., West Point 52656.

Mr. ELLIOTT was born March 12, 1954, in Keosauqua, the son of Philip H. and Irma STECKER ELLIOTT. He married Lucy BURKE July 21, 1973, in Harrisburg Baptist Church.

Mr. ELLIOTT grew up in Harrisburg Township north of Bonaparte. He graduated from Harmony High School and Southeastern Community College, with a degree in auto mechanics.

He and his wife lived in northern California, primarily in Glen Ellen, from 1985 until they returned to southeast Iowa in 2000. They assumed ownership of Elliott's Service in Bonaparte.

Mr. ELLIOTT was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church.

He was a member of National Rifle Association and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include: his wife; two sons, Gabe ELLIOTT and wife Caroline of Santa Rosa, California, and Spencer ELLIOTT and wife Laura of Sonoma, California; one daughter, Cassie STONE and husband Brett of Napa, California; five grandchildren; his mother, Irma ELLIOTT of Bonaparte; and one sister, Karen BURWASH of Bonaparte.

He was preceded in death by his father.
