James Robert BARTLETT Jr., 67, of Eldon, died Saturday, July 30, 2016, at his home.
As were his wishes, the body has been cremated. A memorial service will at (sic) 11 a.m. Saturday at Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon, with the Rev. Mark Clark officiating.

Mr. BARTLETT was born Dec. 27, 1948, in Ottumwa, the son of James and Nora BAKER BARTLETT. He married Ellen "Sue" ROBERTS Feb. 17, 1970, in Agency.
He grew up in the Ottumwa area and called his grandparents' house home while he attended Ottumwa High School.
He left school and enlisted in the United States Navy on Aug. 14, 1967. He was honorablely discharge (sic) in May 1971.
After his discharge, he and his family returned to the Eldon area and completed his schooling and began working at American Chain and Cable in Fairfield. While working a full-time job, he continued his education and graduated from the machinist program at Indian Hills Community College.
Mr. BARTLETT also worked at Everco, excel, and Pro Tan in Ottumwa, where he worked alongside his daughter, Dana.
He enjoyed collecting coins, watching old TV shows, and traveling. He spent 17 years as a member of the Wapello County Sheriff Reserves and was a member of the Eldon Fire and Rescue for over 38 years.
Survivors include: wife, Sue BARTLETT of Eldon; two children, James BARTLETT with wife Brenda, and Dana BLUNT with husband Tom of Eldon; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Rose Ann BARTLETT, Kevin BARTLETT, Brenda BARTLETT and Mike HOBBS.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
