Emma M. STECKER, 87, of Bonaparte, died at 1:17 a.m. today, Friday, June 17, 2016, at Keosauqua Health Care Center (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

The body has been cremated.

Arrangements for a memorial service are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home.

Emma Mae STECKER

Emma Mae STECKER, 87, of Bonaparte, died at 1:17 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2016, at the Keosauqua Health Care Center in Keosauqua.

Per her wishes, the body has been cremated. A celebration of life service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bonaparte Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mark Caston officiating. Burial will be in Bonaparte Cemetery (note: also in Van Buren Co., IA).

Visitation will open at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with family present from 5-7 p.m.

Memorials to Bonaparte Cemetery can be left at the funeral home or church or mailed to the family at 411 Jackson St., Bonaparte 52620.

Mrs. STECKER was born May 23, 1929, in Bonaparte, the daughter of Bennie and Mabel BROWN MUNTZ. She married John Walter SHRIVER May 23, 1947, at First Baptist Church in Farmington. He died Aug. 8, 1955. She married Dean HIRSCHLER Jan. 6, 1967, in Stockport. He died March 28, 1970. She married Lester STECKER Aug. 12, 1972, at Kahoka, Missouri. He died Dec. 5, 1995.

She was a graduate of Bonaparte High School. She worked as a linotype operator at the Record-Republican newspaper in Bonaparte for many years, as a cook at Harmony Elementary School in Bonaparte for several years, and later worked as a proofreader and correspondent at the Van Buren County Leader-Record newspaper in Farmington and Bonaparte.

She was a member of Bonaparte Baptist Church.

She emjoyed bowling and loved working in her yard and taking care of her flowers. She was an excellent cook and noted for her homemade pies and deviled eggs.

Survivors include: one son, Steve SHRIVER and wife Shirley of Bonaparte; one daughter-in-law, Tamera SHRIVER of Bonaparte; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five stepchildren, Raymond STECKER and wife Norma of Prairie City, Dale STECKER and wife Monica of Knoxville, Tennessee, Connie WESTERCAMP and husband David of Keosauqua, Dan STECKER and wife Pat of Pleasantville, and Terry STECKER and wife Kathy of Chicago, Illinois; 17 stepgrandchildren; 24 stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother, Morris MUNTZ of Warren, Ohio.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by: her parents; one son, Michael; two brothers, John MUNTZ and Bennie "Whitey" MUNTZ; one daughter-in-law, Heidi SHRIVER; and one great-granddaughter.
