Carl "Bill" BARR, 73, of Fairfield, died today, Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA).

Funeral arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Carl W. "Bill" BARR, 73 of Fairfield, Iowa died at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City on Tuesday, June 14, 2016.

Carl was born July 21, 1942 at Martinsburg, Iowa to Luther C. and Alma V. DOUTHART BARR.

He was a graduate of Albia High School. He had lived in Fairfield since 1960.

Carl owned his own Construction and Carpentry business named Barr Construction for many years.

He loved baseball and was an avid Cubs fan, he was proud of his John Deere collection and like to (sic) go bowling.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister: Barbara STRADLING; 2 daughters: Carla BARR and Melissa WATSON.

Survivors include his companion, Peggy WILSON of Fairfield; 2 daughters: Joyce and husband Scott BROBSTON of Norwalk, Iowa, Nancy and husband Carlos CLINE of Jesup, Iowa; 1 step son: Shawn WILSON of Burlington, Iowa; 1 son-in-law: Gary WATSON of Fairfield; 2 sisters: Bettye COFFIN of Indianola, Iowa; Bonnie and husband Bob DEVLIN of Nixa, Missouri; 1 half-sister: Mary Katherine BOX of Fairfield; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.

Cremation has been accorded per Mr. BARR's wishes and a private family service will be at a later date.

Carl was an organ and tissue donor.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield is assisting the family with arrangements.
