Dorothy Mae DRAPER, 87, of Keosauqua and formerly of Douds, died at 2:10 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2016, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington (note: in Des Moines Co., IA).

Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Mae DRAPER

Dorothy Mae DRAPER, 87, of Keosauqua and formerly of Douds, died at 2:10 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2016, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Douds (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Visitation will open at 3 p.m. Wednesday, with family present 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials to Douds Alumni Association can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 552 Crestview, Ottumwa 52501.

Mrs. DRAPER was born Sept. 17, 1928, in Douds, the daughter of Morris and Hazel JOHNSON FINNEY. She married Donald GREENFIELD and they later divorced. She married James L. DRAPER Aug. 16, 1968. He died July 24, 2006.

Mrs. DRAPER graduated from Douds High School in 1946. She lived much of her life in Douds where she worked at Finney Grocery and Greeting Card Company and operated Douds Café for several years.

She and her husband Jim DRAPER lived in Panora, Milo and Buffalo Center where he was city maintenance foreman. They returned to Douds and later moved to Country Lane Apartments in Keosauqua.

Mrs. DRAPER was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Douds.

Survivors include: three sons, Dennis GREENFIELD and wife Sherry of Ottumwa, Herbert GREENFIELD with Cathy REMPE of Ottumwa and Allan DRAPER and wife Tanya of Lubbock, Texas; one daughter, Teresa ARNETT of Fountain, Colorado; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one son-in-law, Cecil HAMBERG of Keosauqua.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: one daughter, Sheila HAMBERG; and one brother, Larry FINNEY.
