October 20, 2004Rachel Alice Rodenmayer, 91, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church in Whitehall, Ohio, with the Rev. Kathy Arbaugh-Patmon officiating. Burial will be in Glen Rest Cemetery in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Thursday at Evans Funeral Home in Columbus.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to American Heart Association or Hospice of Central Ohio.
Mrs. Rodenmayer was born May 23, 1913, in Sumner Township in Iowa County, the daughter of George J. and Martha Jane Kruse. She was married to Harold W. Rodenmayer for 68 years until his death.
She grew up in Fairfield. As the wife of an officer in the United States Army, she traveled throughout the world. She resided for the last seven years at Kensington Place assisted living home in Columbus.
Mrs. Rodenmayer was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She also was a member of the Officers Wives Association and Ladies Golf Association, both of the Defense Supply Construction Corporation in Columbus.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith Davidson and husband Harold of Peachtree City, Ga., and Dorothy Bachelder of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two sons, John Rodenmayer and wife Sharon and James Rodenmayer and wife Deborah, all of Reynoldsburg; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George J. Kruse and Dean A. Kruse; and one grandson.
