Frieda Tischler Wechsler Rosenberg, age 84, of Iowa City, IA, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA died on Saturday, October 16, 2004.

She was the beloved wife of the late Samuel Wechsler and Jack I. Rosenberg; loving mother of Heather Wechsler of Florida and Warren Martin Wechsler and his wife Gail Young of Fairfield, IA; stepmother of Linda Reich and her husband Dr. Sanford Reich of Providence, RI, and Dr. Fred Rosenberg and his wife Linda Rosenberg of Chicago, IL; cherished grandmother of Alison and Samantha Wechsler; stepgrandmother of Naomi, Ilisa and Daniel Reich and Jonathon and Michael Rosenberg; dear sister of Eve Levinson of Florida, the late Rose Tischler, Sylvia Rosenthal and Faye Pollack.

Mrs. Wechsler Rosenberg made history by being elected as the first International N'siah of the B'nai B'rith Girls on February 25, 1945. She had joined the B'nai B'rith Young Women's Auxiliaries in 1938 and had credited this organization for molding her life to become the woman who was a "doer," giving of herself to her family and community.

On August 18, 1990, at the International Convention of BBG, she was the recipient of the Anita Perlman Outstanding BBG Alumna Award, presented to an alumna of BBG who has distinguished herself both in her professional life as well as within the Jewish Community.

Graveside service and interment in Adath Jeshurun Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA, are private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization, 2020 K Street NW, 7th Floor, Washington, D.C. 20006.
