Maurine J. Moore, 86, of Birmingham died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at home.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Birmingham Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Richard Eis officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Visitation will be open 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Memorials to Birmingham Public Library or Birmingham Presbyterian Church may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 13047 Hickory Ave., Birmingham, 52535.

Mrs. Moore was born July 15, 1918, on the family farm east of Mount Zion, the daughter of Lynford and Hattie Wiley Leavitt. She married Frederick W. Moore Jan. 31, 1943, in Memphis, Mo. He died Aug. 8, 1985.

She graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1937, taught in Van Buren County rural schools, worked in the book room of Fairfield public schools and had been librarian and a board member at Birmingham public library.

She was a member of Birmingham Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Women and served on the building committee for the construction of the present church building.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth Moore and wife Connie of Birmingham; one daughter, Marilyn Moore of Kyle, Texas; two grandchildren; one brother, Myrl Leavitt of Washington; and one sister, Mary Louise Whitcanack of Cantril.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
