Verdae D. "Butch" BLOM, of Fairfield, died at his home this morning, Tuesday, May 24, 2016.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Verdae D. 'Butch' BLOM

Verdae D. "Butch" BLOM, 76, of Fairfield died at his home Tuesday morning, May 24, 2016.

Cremation is being accorded. A graveside memorial service, with military honors, will be at a later date at Fell Cemetery near Libertyville.

Arrangements are in the care of Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Mr. BLOM was born June 22, 1939, at Estherville, the son of Thomas and Thelma SAMPSON BLOM.

He graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1959.

He served in the U.S. Navy from Aug. 27, 1959, until Aug. 26, 1963.

Mr. BLOM worked at Rockwell International in Fairfield for 32 years.

Survivors include: two sons, Corey BLOM and wife Carla BLOM of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Eddie BLOM, also of Albuquerque; four grandchildren; companion, Carol Sutton of Fairfield; three brothers, Dexter in Idaho, David in Minnesota and Paul in Arkansas; two sisters, Geraldine HORSWELL in Minnesota and JoAnn VOSS in Iowa.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; three brothers, Robert, Kenneth and Gerald; and six sisters, Delores POGUE, Avone ROBINSON, Lucille REED, Patricia FREDETTE, Doris BLOM and Betty BLOM.
