Mary 'Louise' MILLER

Mary "Louise" MILLER, 70, of Batavia, died Monday, May 9, 2016, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines (note: in Polk Co., IA).

A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Batavia Cemetery in Batavia.

Visitation, with the family present, will be from 10-11:15 a.m. Friday at Kremer Funeral Chapel in Batavia.

Memorial contributions can be directed to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Online condolences can be made at www.kremerfh.com.

Mrs. MILLER was born July 22, 1945, in Novinger, Missouri, the daughter of Ira and Elsie CREASON STILES. She married Joseph MILLER in 1967 at the Kirksville Assembly of God Church in Kirksville, Missouri. They divorced.

During her early years, her family spent time in both Missouri and Wyoming. She attended high school in Sheridan, Wyoming, where she graduated with the Class of 1964.

Upon graduation, she moved to Kirksville, Missouri. Then, in 1972 the MILLER family moved to Batavia.

She enjoyed being around children and took care of not only her own, but opened her home to exchange students, foster children, as well as baby-sitting for other families.

As the children got older, Mrs. MILLER returned to the work force. She spent many years working for Excel in Ottumwa before retiring in 2010, as well as working part time at the D's Eldon Y Gas Station and Bonser's Noodles.

Mrs. MILLER loved to garden and can a variety of fruits and vegetables. She was known for her cooking and mending.

Survivors include: two children, Joseph Jr. MILLER and wife Leigh of Ottumwa and Tonja VOTROUBEK and husband Brian of Davenport; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two siblings, Donald STILES and Marie SWINYER.

Mrs. MILLER was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Charles MILLER; and two sisters, Donna Jean WINTERMOTE and Colleen FLOATE.
