-Paid Obituary-

Vincent J. Sojka, 84 of Kalona, died Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a brief illness.

Mass of the Resurrection for Vincent will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 15, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside. Rev. Rich Adam will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Riverside.

Casketbearers will be Brian Sojka, Grant Sojka, Seth Sojka, Nathan Sojka, Jessica Sojka and Nadia Sojka.

Following committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the St. Mary's Parish Center. Visitation for Vincent will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2004 from 3:00 - 7:30 with a 7:30 rosary service at the Sorden-Lewis Funeral Home in Riverside.

A memorial has been established for St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mt. Olivet Cemetery and Camp Courageous.

Vincent James Sojka was born on September 21, 1920 in Riverside, the son of Charles J. and Rose I. (Knotek) Sojka.

On February 28, 1946 Vince was united in marriage to Anita M. Frank in Riverside. Vince was a farmer all of his life south of Riverside retiring to Kalona in 1982.

He was also a past member of the Mt. Olivet Cemetery Board, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a member of the Farm Bureau.

Vince enjoyed going to cattle shows, playing euchre, gardening and doing yard work.

Vince will be deeply missed by his wife, Anita of Kalona; five sons, Charles V. Sojka and his wife, Colleen of Riverside, John M. Sojka and his wife, Joan of Fairfield, Philip F. Sojka of Marion, Gregory L. Sojka and his wife, Nancy of Riverside, and Joseph W. Sojka and his wife Julie of Kalona; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; one brother, Dale Sojka and his wife, Darlene of Riverside and three sisters, Lorene Cerny of Lone Tree, Betty Stewart and her husband, Eugene of Ainsworth, and Luella Beenblossom and her husband, Paul also of Washington.

Vince was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Harold "Jake" Sojka and two sisters, Dorothy Wollrab and Marie Kleopfer.
