Lela Mae DOWNING

Lela Mae DOWNING, 78, of Batavia, died Monday, April 25, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society - Ottumwa (note: in Wapello Co., IA).

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with the Rev. Tim Frasher officiating. Scattering of the cremated remains will take place at a later date.

Mrs. DOWNING was born Dec. 19, 1937, in Davis County, the daughter of Lewis and Lottie Alice DOLL ALBRIGHT. She married Charlie Dean DOWNING Oct. 29, 1955, in Bloomfield. He died Feb. 24, 2011.

Mrs. DOWNING was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, gardening, camping, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include: two daughters, Brenda CARLSON and spouse Pat of Georgia, and Rosa HARTER of Batavia; three sons, Kevin DOWNING of Batavia, James DOWNING and wife Lisa of Fairfield, William DOWNING of Indianapolis, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jesse ALBRIGHT of Washington, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; son, Richard Waynne MALLINGER; daughter, Linda Sue DOWNING; two grandchildren; brothers, Jerry, Earl, and Murrel ALBRIGHT; sister, Mary Lou STEWART.
