Clifford Dean "Doc" MARTIN, 83, of Cantril, died Thursday, April 21, 2016, at home.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Cantril United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Donna Olinger officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cantril (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).
Visitation will open at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with family present 3-5 p.m.
Memorials to Cantril Grass Roots can be left at the funeral home or church or mailed to the family at 1709 W. Fourth St., Pella 50219.
Mr. MARTIN was born Sept. 7, 1932, in Lowell, the son of Tom and Ida Mae CARVER MARTIN. He married Jane Ann DAUGHRITY Nov. 2, 1952, in Cantril. She died March 1, 2003.
Mr. MARTIN graduated from Cantril High School, spent his active life farming in the Cantril community and served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956.
He was a member of the former Cantril Lions Club and was one of the founders of Cantril Grass Roots organization.
Survivors include: one son, Mark MARTIN and wife Sue of Kirksville, Missouri; two daughters, Kim STEVENS and husband Mark of Ottumwa and Linda BRADLEY and husband Dusty of Pella; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by: two sisters, Virginia BEACH and Ermalee TEAL; and three brothers, Wilbur, Miles and Walter MARTIN.
