Earl Wayne BISGARD, 86, of Fairfield, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Brian Gentz officiating.
The body will be cremated after the service. Burial of cremains, with military rites, will be Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Graettinger (note: in Palo Alto Co., IA).
Visitation for family and friends will be 6:30-8 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Memorials can be made to SunnyBrook Assisted Living or First Lutheran Church, both in Fairfield. Memorials and cards can be mailed to Darrel BISGARD, 400 E Lowe Ave., Fairfield 52556. Online condolences can be made at www.behnerfh.com.
Mr. BISGARD was born Nov. 18, 1929, in Walnut, the son of Einer and Lois WARREN BISGARD. He married Nila Mae BRAWNER Jan. 21, 1951. She died Nov. 13, 2003.
Mr. BISGARD's mother died early in his life, and his father remarried Wilma WARREN.
Mr. BISGARD joined the Marines and served during the Korean War (sic - Korean Conflict).
He moved to Fairfield in 1969.
Mr. BISGARD was a farmer. He worked 10 years for CB&Q Railroad as a depot agent. He also worked as a high school custodian and deliveryman for Fairfield Flowers.
For many years, he and his wife enjoyed square dancing. He also liked to play cards and checkers. When he moved to SunnyBrook, he became very active in all of its activities, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include: three of his children, Dennis BISGARD and wife Patti of Chariton, Darrel BISGARD and wife Brenda of Fairfield, and Diane BISSIG and husband Jim of Mason City; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia COWDEN of West Des Moines; and one brother, Norman BISGARD.
In addition to his wife and mother, he was preceded in death by: his father andstepmother (sic); and two sons, Gerald Dean and Donald Ray BISGARD.
