Raymond C. HUNTER, 94, of Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at his home in Mt. Pleasant (note: in Henry Co., IA).

Funeral arrangements are pending at Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.

Raymond C. HUNTER

Raymond C. HUNTER, 94, of Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at his home in Mt. Pleasant.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Deborah Stowers officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.

Mr. HUNTER was born July 1, 1921, southeast of Mt. Pleasant, the son of Mark E. and Bessie HOCKETT HUNTER. He married Betty Marie BURKY Dec. 11, 1943.

He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1940.

He started his career of farming with his father after high school and later began farming on his own in 1944 in Henry and Jefferson counties until he retired after 45 years and moved to Mt. Pleasant.

Mr. HUNTER was a director of Glendale Country School west of Lockridge, was on the board of directors of Supply Co-op for 10 years, along with the board of directors of the Henry County Credit Union.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant.

He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and hunting.

Survivors include: his wife Betty of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Robert HUNTER and wife Renee of Hillsboro and Daniel HUNTER and wife Deanna of Harrison, Arkansas; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; and one brother, Walter HUNTER.
