Keith E. VICKERS, 86, of Bonaparte, died at 3:48 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2016, at Keosauqua Health Center in Keosauqua.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bonaparte Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mark Caston officiating. Burial will be in Bonaparte Cemetery in Bonaparte (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).
Visitation will open at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with family present 5-7 p.m.
Memorials to Bonaparte First Responders or Bonaparte Cemetery can be left at the funeral home, church or mailed to the family at 504 Sixth St., Bonaparte 52620.
Mr. VICKERS was born Jan. 20, 1930, in rural Bonaparte, the son of Carl and Melva SMITH VICKERS. He married Virginia RICE April 15, 1950. She died April 6, 1990. He married Edith GARD July 17, 1992.
He graduated from Bonaparte High School.
He lived his life in the Bonaparte area and had worked at Fairfield Glove Co., Farmers Co-op and Pankey Feeds all in Bonaparte, White's Hatchery in Farmington and Dick Corry Machine in Birmingham. He had resided at Keosauqua Health Center since March 11.
He was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting.
He was a member of Bonaparte Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Edith; two daughters, Kimberly PARKER and husband Ron of Fort Madison and Cindy VICKERS of Fairfield, Texas; two stepsons, David GARD of Bonaparte and Jeff GARD and wife Allison of Bonaparte; two stepdaughters, Diane PETERSON of Mt. Pleasant and Deb BENEDICT and husband Todd of Wagner, Oklahoma; two sisters, Vivian OLIVER of Ventura, California, and Carla ROGERS of El Cajon, California; two grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and four step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by: one son, Keith Earl VICKERS; one daughter, Kristie VICKERS; and one sister, Irene TERRY.
