Judy E. MENKE

Judy E. MENKE, 59, of Algonquin, Illinois, and formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, March 31, 2016, at her home in Illinois.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will be in the St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Monday at Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., followed by a scripture service at 7 p.m.

Judith E. (Judy) MENKE 59, of Algonquin, Illinois formerly of Mt. Pleasant passed away on March 31, 2016, at her home, with her family by her side.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2016, at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant with Father Bruce DeRammelaere and Father Nick Adam officiating. Burial will be in the St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Monday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by a Scripture Service at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Mt. Pleasant Community Schools and St. Jude's Children Hospital in her memory.

Judy was born on March 23, 1957, in Des Moines the daughter of Art and Beverly (BROWN) HAMM. She was united in marriage to William (Bill) MENKE June 30, 1979 at St. James Catholic Church in St. Paul, Iowa. She was a past member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and is a current member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church of Crystal Lake, Illinois. For most of her career she worked in the Information Technology field with Motorola Inc. for 28 years and Communication Test Design, Inc. for the last 10 years. Her favorite pastimes were reading, traveling, relaxing at their lake house, boating, and especially spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband Bill and two sons Chad MENKE (fiancé Sara BALLINGER) of Grain Valley, Missouri and Josh (Jodi) MENKE, Algonquin, Illinois; one grandson Mason MENKE and future step grandchildren Hunter, Holden, Hallee BALLINGER; her parents Art and Bev HAMM of Winfield Iowa; brothers Glenn (Maria) HAMM of Fairfield, Iowa; Ed (Trisha McLAUGHLIN) of West Burlington, Iowa; one sister Karen (Tim) ACKLES of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; her mother-in-law Mrs. Agnella (Nellie) MENKE of St. Paul, Iowa as well as several brother in law's (sic) and sister in-law's, numerous nieces and nephews.

Judy was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Willis MENKE and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
