October 11, 2004Jack Frederick Ward Jr., 52, of 1103 W. Hempstead Ave., died at 6:50 p.m. Sunday Oct. 10, 2004, at his home.
A funeral Mass will be held at 8 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Stephen Page officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
A Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Raymond Funeral Home, followed by visitation.
A memorial has been established to the family.
Mr. Ward was born Aug. 18, 1952, in Fairfield, the son of Jack F. and Mary Holden Ward. He married Kimberley J. Reichert July 4, 1977, in Fairfield.
He graduated from Fairfield High School, then served in the United States Navy in the Philippines during the Vietnam War.
After moving to Boston, Mass., in 1989, he was employed as a maintenance engineer by Analog Devices in Wilmington, Mass., and by General Mills. After returning to Fairfield in 1991, he owned and operated Quality Lawn Care Service until illness forced his retirement.
Mr. Ward was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of District 14 ABATE.
A professional Frisbee golf player, he designed the Frisbee golf course in Chautauqua Park in Fairfield.
He also enjoyed Iowa Hawkeye sports.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Ward Blough of Fairfield; one daughter, Cristen Joann Ward of Pella; one brother, David Ward of Fairfield; and two sisters, Rosemary Hammes and Luanne Brown, all of Richland.
He was preceded in death by his father; one infant son, Carleton John Ward; one infant daughter, Cara Jacklyn Ward; one infant sister; and two brothers, Richard H. Ward and Barry W. Ward.
