Lura Pearl Miller, 87, of Batavia died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004 at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Agency United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bob Dvorak officiating. The body has been cremated. Inurnment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa.

Open visitation began today at 1 p.m. at Kremer Funeral Chapel in Batavia. Family will be present from 6-8 p.m. today at the chapel.

Memorials can be made to Agency United Methodist Church and American Diabetes Association.

Mrs. Miller was born Aug. 16, 1917, in Mahaska County, the daughter of Guy and Nina McDonald Bridges. She married Richard Miller April 24, 1948, in Fairfield.

She graduated from Richland High School in 1935 and later from John Fletcher College in Oskaloosa. She was a substitute teacher for several area school districts for many years. She was a member of Literacy Book Club of Batavia.

Mrs. Miller was a 55-year member of Agency United Methodist Church and a member of United Methodist Women's club.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Ric Miller and wife Sandy of Ottumwa and Jeff Miller and wife Diane of Wayland; six daughters, Carla Clark of Des Moines, Sue Griswold of Aurora, Colo., Mart Sartipi and husband Madjid of Atlanta, Ga., Kath Love and husband Mark of Little Rock, Ark., Jenny Schmidt of Agency and Jan Kirschbaum of Des Moines; and 13 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
