Hal R. HOTLE, 86, of Bentonsport, died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at home.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Hal R. HOTLE

Hal R. HOTLE, 86, of Bentonsport, died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at home.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating. Burial will be in west Chester Cemetery in West Chester (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Visitation, with family present, will be 9-10 a.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Military honors will be carried out by Beer-Bark (sic - Beer-Barker) Post 113 American Legion of Keosauqua.

Gifts to a memorial to be designated later by the family can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 1547 Broad St., Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. HOTLE was born May 15, 1929, in rural Washington County, the son of Clarence and Ethel AUGUSTINE HOTLE. He married Winifred "Ruth" TELFORD June 3, 1950, in Kremlin, Oklahoma. She died in 2014.

He graduated from West Chester High School.

He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Korean War (sic - Korean Conflict) and was stationed for the most part at Breize Norton Airbase in England, along with his wife.

He was a heavy equipment operator and had many varied work adventures: real estate broker, home builder and developer in Washington, Iowa. He also had an interest in trees, operated a nursery and a large truck-mounted tree mover.

Mr. and Mrs. HOTLE lived in Arkansas, Florida, Missouri and Alabama. They moved back to Iowa in the 1980s.

Survivors include: four sons, Tim and spouse Nancy of Marietta, Georgia, Barry and spouse Julie WILLIAMS of Keosauqua, Eric and spouse Lynn of Toccoa, Georgia, and Robin and spouse Thuy of Dacula, Georgia; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
