Doris Rose JOHNSTON, 86, formerly of Fairfield, died Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at Wapello Specialty Care in Wapello (note: in Louisa Co., IA).
Per her wishes, the body has been cremated.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Burial will be at Howard Grove Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation for family and friends will be 1-2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, prior to the memorial service.

Mrs. JOHNSTON was born Dec. 27, 1929, at home in Jefferson County, the daughter of Glenn and Verle BRAY BEAUCHAMP. She married Donald W. JOHNSTON June 8, 1947, at the Christian parsonage. He died Oct. 22, 2010.
Mrs. JOHNSTON lived most of her life in the Fairfield area. She was a cashier at United Telephone for 20 years and Farmers Telephone for four years.
Her interests and hobbies were reading, crafts, crocheting, flowers and collecting salt and pepper shakers. What she enjoyed most was spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include: four children, Ronald JOHNSTON and wife Janice of Marion, Delores WALKER and husband John of Hedrick, Patricia PALMQUIST and husband Bob of Fairbault, Minnesota, and Jerry JOHNSTON and wife Susan of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; and two brothers, Leo and Christie BEAUCHAMP.
