OBITUARY.

Edwin TULLER

Edwin TULLER was born near Columbus, Ohio, May 18, 1841, and quietly went home March 22, 1915, at 3:30 p.m., in the Cross Lanes neighborhood, near Batavia, aged 73 years, 10 months and 5 days.

The earlier years of his life were spent in Ohio. He came to Iowa in 1855 with his parents, Ezekial and Elizabeth (LOY) TULLER, settling on a farm five miles southeast of Fairfield where the father passed away four years later, leaving the care of his mother, three brothers and one sister to him.

In 1860 they removed to the neighborhood where he has since resided. His mother later moved to Missouri where she passed away in 1876.

He was married to Miss Susan A. SEARS, eldest daughter of Jacob L. and Mary (SARGENT) SEARS, on December 24, 1863, who preceded him in death May 22, 1903. To them were born eight children, two dying in infancy.

Those living are George H., of Ottumwa; W. H., of Batavia; Mrs. Mary E. DUNSWORTH, Washington; Mrs. Cora E. SMITH, Batavia; Charles, of Eagle Bend, Minn., and Mrs. Bertha M. PARRETT, Batavia, and twenty grandchildren. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Flora BROUGH, and two brothers, O. J. of Browerville, Minn., and Lucian E., of Glen, Colorado.

He united with the then Mt. Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian church (Cross Lanes)) [sic] in 1896, and later became an elder, being a commissioner to the General Assembly at Dallas, Texas, in 1904.

Funeral services were held at the Cross Lanes Presbyterian church at 11 a.m., Friday, March 26, 1915. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. A. E. Bentzinger, of the M. E. church of Batavia, assisted by the Rev. J. F. Hinkhouse, pastor of the Cross Lanes church.

The brother, O. J., and the children, except Mrs. Mary E. DUNSWORTH, who was unable to attend, were present at the funeral. Burial was at the Gantz cemetery beside the wife.
