J. W. FULTON, 88, Taken In Death; Services Monday

Joseph W. FULTON, 88, lifetime resident of Jefferson county, died Friday at 4:15 p.m. at his home at 300 W. Hempstead. He had been seriously ill for the past week.

Last rites will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral home in charge of the Rev. J. Roland Crandall. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

FULTON operated a service station in New Chicago (sic - a subdivision in Fairfield) for 22 years before his retirement in 1946. He also served as city councilman from the Second ward from 1937 to 1943. He moved to Fairfield in 1922 after farming in the Libertyville area.

FULTON was born Jan. 7, 1873 at Libertyville, the son of Joseph W. and Sarah MINEAR FULTON. He was married to Mary DONAHEY Sept. 27, 1893. She preceded him in death Aug. 29, 1960.

FULTON was a member of First Methodist church, the Golden Wedding club and the Knights of Pythias lodge.

He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Fred OLIVER, Fairfield; J. W. FULTON, Shreveport, La.; Albert M. FULTON, Minneapolis, Minn.; and Mrs. Carl SNIDER, Reynolds, Il. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Lila MORRISSEY, Ottumwa.

Five brothers are deceased.
