BENJAMIN BARNES DIED TUESDAY

Benjamin BARNES passed away at his home on North Court street yesterday afternoon at 3:45 o'clock after an illness extending over a period of three years. Mr. BARNES had been in a serious condition since Sunday and his death was no surprise to his relatives and friends.

Benjamin BARNES was born in Mansfield, Ohio, March 12, 1834, and grew to young manhood there. He came to Iowa and located in Fairfield in 1855 and had made this his home ever since. Soon after coming to Fairfield Mr. BARNES was united in marriage to Miss Mary E. WILSON of this city. Together the couple have traveled life's pathway until now and the aged wife who is left alone has the sympathy of the many friends.

Mr. BARNES was a member of a family of seven children and is the last of the family, with the exception of one sister, Mrs. Guylan BEATTY of this city. Mr. BARNES was one of the best known of the older residents of Fairfield. He followed the painting and paper hanging trade for over a half century here. About three years ago he suffered from a stroke of paralysis and from that time until his death has had several strokes.

The funeral services will be held at the residence tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and the interrment (sic) will be made in Evergreen cemetery. Dr. Thomas Osborn of the Methodist church will conduct the funeral.

Benjamin BARNES.

Benjamin BARNES died at his home on North Court St. Tuesday afternoon after an illness of several years. Funeral services were held at the home yesterday afternoon conducted by Rev. Osborn and interment made in Evergreen cemetery.

Benjamin BARNES was born in Mansfield, Ohio, March 12, 1834, He came to Iowa in 1844m locating in Fairfield. He was married to Miss Mary E. WILSON and they made their home in Fairfield. for over fifty years Mr. BARNES was engaged in the painting and paper hanging business.

Mr. BARNES is survived by his wife and onesister. (sic)

AGED RESIDENT PASSES AWAY
Benjamin BARNES, After Long Illness, Dies Yesterday Afternoon at His Home in City.

(From Wednesday's Daily.)

Yesterday afternoon at 3:45 occurred the death of Benjamin BARNES, a well known resident of this city. Mrs. BARNES ha (sic) been sick for over a year and during all that time has not been able to leave his bed. Some time ago he suffered a stroke of paralysis from which he did not recover, this seemed to be a prominent factor in the immediate cause of his death.

Mr. BARNES was born in Ohio, March 12, 1834, making his age at the time of his death seventy-eight years, seven months and three days. He was one of the best known citizens of Fairfield.

Because of the duration and seriousness of his illness, death has been expected to occur at any time of late.

He is survived by his widow, no children having been born to the couple.

The funeral will be held from the home tomorrow at 2:30 in the afternoon, Rev. Thomas Osborn, having charge of the services.
