Evelyn BRECKENRIDGE WALDREN

Evelyn BRECKENRIDGE WALDREN, 95, of Keosauqua, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at Keosauqua Health Care Center in Keosauqua.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Keosauqua Congregational Church, with the Rev. Herb Shafer officiating. Burial will be in Purdom Cemetery in Keosauqua (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Visitation will open at 3 p.m. Friday, with family present 5-7 p.m., at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Memorials to Keosauqua Congregational Church can be left at the funeral home or church or mailed to the family at 20061 215th St., Keosauqua 52565.

Mrs. WALDREN was born Aug. 13, 1920, west of Keosauqua, the daughter of William and Anna ARNOLD BISHOP. She married Harold BRECKENRIDGE Aug. 13, 1938. He died June 24, 1964. She married Leroy "Barney" WALDREN Oct. 3, 1969. He died Dec. 14, 2001.

Mrs. WALDREN was an active member of Keosauqua Congregational Church. She served on various committees and taught Sunday school. She had also been a Cub Scout leader.

She served many years as secretary to the principal of Van Buren High School and had also worked at Van Buren County ASCS office.

She had resided at Keosauqua Health Care Center since September.

Survivors include: three sons, Max BRECKENRIDGE and wife Midge of McDonough, Georgia, Richard BRECKENRIDGE and wife Gloria of Keosauqua and James BRECKENRIDGE and wife Bebe of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one stepson, Roger WALDREN and wife Penny of Ottumwa; one stepdaughter, Sheila WALDREN of Burlington; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by: three brothers, Harold, Gordon and Ivan BISHOP.
