Betty J. VANNOY, 84, of Douds, died at 6:08 a.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at West Point Care Center in West Point.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home.

Betty June BRECKENRIDGE VANNOY, 84, of Douds, died at 6:08 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at West Point Care Center in West Point (note: in Lee Co., IA).

The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church in Douds, with the Rev. Mark Young and the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating.

Visitation, with family present, will be 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service.

Memorials to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Lee County Health Department Hospice can be brought to the church or mailed to the family at 14896 Ferris St., Douds 52551.

Pedrick Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Mrs. VANNOY was born June 7, 1931, in Mount Sterling, the daughter of Dale and Mary LANCASTER BRECKENRIDGE. She married Donald C. VANNOY Dec. 31, 1950, at Milton Methodist Church.

She attended country school and graduated from Cantril High School.

After her marriage, they lived near Cantril until moving to Douds in 1963. She had resided at West Point Care Center since May 11, 2011.

Mrs. VANNOY worked in pediatrics at Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, in the cafeteria at Parsons College, at Nelson Nursing Home and as activity director of Jefferson County Care Facility, all in Fairfield.

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed knitting, embroidering and crocheting and putting puzzles together. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include: her husband, Donald of Douds; two sons, Doug VANNOY and wife Debra of North Liberty and Doyle VANNOY of Douds; one daughter, Becky VANNOY of Douds; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; and one sister, Helen EASTMAN.
