N. Darlene 'Deanie' LAZENBY

N. Darlene "Deanie" LAZENBY, 88, of Keosauqua, died at 5:51 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at home after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

The body has been cremated and no service is planned at this time.

Memorials to Friends of Lacey Keosauqua Park or the Keosauqua Senior Center can be sent to PO Box 296, Keosauqua 52565.

Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. LAZENBY was born Nov. 9, 1927, near Stockport, the daughter of Eberly and Mabel SLEE DODDS. She married Francis A. LAZENBY Nov. 3, 1955, in Hanover, Illinois. He died Sept. 10, 1975.

Mrs. LAZENBY lived in the Stockport area and graduated from Stockport High School in 1945.

She owned and operated a beauty salon in Keosauqua for more than 60 years and co-owned Lazenby Motor Company, with her husband, until his death. She owned and operated the Corner Café in downtown Keosauqua for nearly 20 years, and was an active partner in Lazenby Investments, a real estate development company. Most recently she assisted her son Charles in managing Lazy Bee Log Cabin Rental by Lake Sugema.

After officially retiring at age 65, she wintered in Florida at her second home on Panama City Beach.

Mrs. LAZENBY was a member of many community and civic organizations over the years.

She was a member of Keosauqua Christian Church.

She enjoyed dancing, baking pies and creating art projects, including painting and stained glass.

Survivors include: one son, Charles LAZENBY of Keosauqua; and one brother, Jerry DODDS of West Branch.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: one brother, Eberly Jr. "Squire" DODDS; and three sisters, Virginia MORRISON, Shirley CROSKREY and Betty REICHART.
