Jerry Ray SAPP

Jerry Ray SAPP, 73, of Eldon, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at his home.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon, with the Rev. Mark Clark officiating.

Visitation will open at noon Tuesday at Kremer Funeral Home in Eldon, with the family present 5-8 p.m. Friends can sign the online guestbook at www.kremerfh.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to Eldon senior meals.

Mr. SAPP was born Jan. 15, 1943, in Ottuwma, son of Oscar and Anna "ALLMAN" SAPP. He married Jane VASS June 30, 1968, at Eldon United Methodist Church.

He grew up on Caster Street in Eldon not realizing that the house next door would eventually be the home in which he would raise his family.

He graduated from high school in 1961, with the first class to graduate from the new Cardinal school district building. After graduation, he worked for the Rock Island Railroad until being drafted into the Army in December of 1964 during the Vietnam War (sic - Vietnam Conflict). He was stationed in Germany, then attended missile training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and test fired the Pershing missile at Blanding, Utah. He was honorably discharged in November of 1966 and returned home to Eldon.

Mr. and Mrs. SAPP spent a short time in Colona, Illinois, while he worked for Warning Lights of Illinois. He took a job with Wausau Homes in Ottumwa and returned to Eldon. After Wausau Homes moved away, Mr. SAPP began a 28-year career working for Golden Furrow in Eldon.

He enjoyed motorcycles, NASCAR, camping and fishing at the river and attending his grandchildren's activities.

Survivors include: his wife, Jane SAPP of Eldon; two children, Paul SAPP of Cedar Falls and Stacie BRYANT of Eldon; two grandsons; and one brother, Jack SAPP of Donnellson.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; one daughter, Nicole SAPP; two brothers, Robert and William SAPP.
