Neva M. HAUER, 93, formerly of Burlington, died at 11 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Burlington, with the Rev. David Yonker officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington (note: in Des Moines Co., IA).
Visitation, with family present, will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua and again prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the church in Burlington.
Memorials to First Christian Church or Noah's Ark Animal Shelter can be left at the church or mailed to the family at 800 Mulberry St. Keosauqua 52565.
Mrs. HAUER was born Aug. 5, 1922, in Bode, the daughter of Joseph and Leta MASON BRANDSTETTER. She married Fred R. HAUER Dec. 13, 1942, in Kahoka, Missouri. He died Nov. 10, 1988.
Mrs. HAUER graduated from Bode High School and moved with her family to Burlington.
She was a homemaker and worked in food service at Burlington Community High School.
She was a long-time member of First Christian Church in Burlington and had been a Girl Scout leader.
Gardening and flowers were her favorite hobbies and she enjoyed watching birds and wildlife as well as cooking, her specialties being pies and potato salad. She also sewed. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were here special love.
Survivors include: one daughter, Marie SETTLES and husband James of Keosauqua; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her twin sister, Eva PETERSON of Burlington. Mrs. HAUER and her twin shared adjoining rooms at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: two brothers, Kenneth and Lyle BRANDSTETTER; and two sisters, Winnie BRANDSTETTER and Helen KLOOSTER.
