Dean Countryman, 70, of 208 S. Court St., Apt. 101, Fairfield, died at 5:27 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Family visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Wagon Wheel Senior Housing of Fairfield.

Mr. Countryman was born Feb. 2, 1934, in Douds, the son of Jesse Clyde and Edith Bonar Countryman. He married Joyce Loving Sept. 1, 1963, in Hillsboro.

Mr. Countryman was a Fairfield resident most of his life. He was employed as core maker and sand mauler and in the tool room at Fairfield Aluminum Castings Co. for 34 years before he retired. He and his wife managed Wagon Wheel Senior Housing.

He was a member of Fairfield Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 1927. His hobbies included jigsaw puzzles, dancing and collecting state quarters.

Survivors include his wife; four children, Cheryl Sipes of Phenix City, Ala., Russell Countryman of Merriam, Kan., Brenda Jernigan and husband Donald of Phenix City, Ala., and Lisa Hemm of Fairfield; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and three sisters, Louise Hoskins of Fairfield, Maxine Wolf of Fremont and Donna Story of Birmingham.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Veryl, Dale and Clifford Countryman.
