Ruth Elizabeth Young, 79, of Muscatine died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at Unity Hospital in Muscatine.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home in Muscatine, with the Rev. Joseph Proctor officiating. Burial will be in Edgington Cemetery in Edgington, Ill. Fellowship will follow the burial in the community room of the funeral home.

Visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Young was born March 29, 1925, in Jefferson County, the daughter of John W. and Ethel Anders Crowner. She married Rex L. Young June 15, 1946, in Galesburg, Ill. He died March 11, 1994.

She was a member of the Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church in Buffalo Prairie, Ill. She enjoyed sports and playing cards.

Survivors include one son, Forest Bud Young and wife Teresa of St. Louis, Mo.; three daughters, Janet R. Six and husband Jim of Taylor Ridge, Ill., Ronna R. Thuman and husband John of Fruitland and Sherri L. Myers and husband Roger of Bolingbrook, Ill.; Grant Guy Decker, who was reared by Mr. and Mrs. Young, and wife Joyce of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Evelyn Magnuson of Rockford, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Charles, John, Clifford and Everett Crowner; and one grandson.
