Lawrence E. SHILLING

Lawrence E. SHILLING, 85, of 207 E. Lowe Ave. in Fairfield, died at 10:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at Jefferson County Hospital.

A graveside service was held today at Hillsboro Cemetery in Hillsboro, with the Rev. Keevin Koch officiating.

Memorials can be made to the Humane Society or to the family.

Mr. SHILLING was born July 15, 1919, in Dudley in Wapello County, the son of Azle Clinton and Margaret Eleanor HART SHILLING. He married Beulah Eldora BARNETT Oct. 17, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo.

He was employed as a moulder at Iowa Malleable Iron Co. for more than 35 years and as section laborer for Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railroad for 12 years. He retired in 1983.

Mr. SHILLING enjoyed metal-detecting, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife; four sisters, Clara KELSEY of Port Bryon, Ill., Janet MINEART of Ottumwa, Flora ALCOCK of Waterloo and Betty WILLIAMS of Eddyville; and one brother, Frank SHILLING of Ormond Beach, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Inez SHILLING, Alice HENDRICKS and Opal PISSINI; and three brothers, Kenneth, Harold and Levi SHILLING.
