September 09, 2004Mona R. Adam, 50, of rural Fairfield died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a long illness.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain, with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
Ms. Adam donated her body to the University of Iowa.
The family requests no flowers. A memorial to Cornell College is being established.
Ms. Adam was born Feb. 3, 1954, in Washington County Hospital in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph S. and Josephine Haupert Drish. She married Joseph Adam of rural Richland Aug. 30, 1975; they later divorced.
She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1972. She later graduated from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, where she was honored as William Fletcher King scholar.
She enjoyed traveling with close friends, spending time in her garden and volunteering with the local Democratic Party. She also enjoyed animals.
Survivors include her mother of Richland; two sisters, Shirley Crawford of Fairfield and Diana Weber of Richland; two brothers, Ronald Drish of Clinton and Stanley Breon-Drish of Ottumwa; and special friend Harry Stever of Fairfield.
She was preceded in death by her father.
