William W. HAMILTON, 80, of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, at the White River Medical Complex in Cherokee Village.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon, with the Rev. Mark Clark officiating. Burial will be in Eldon Cemetery immediately follow (sic) the service (note: in Wapelllo Co., IA).
Memorials can be made in Mr. HAMILTON's name for Lewy Body Dementia research to: Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. Memorials can be left at the church or mailed to the family at 73 Tohatchi Drive, Cherokee Village, AR 72539.
Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. HAMILTON was born Oct. 18, 1935, in Selma, the son of Lewis W. and Bernice KUNZMAN HAMILTON. He married Linda HAMILTON June 28, 1959, at Eldon Methodist Church.
Mr. HAMILTON graduated from Eldon High School in 1952. He received his bachelor's degree from Parsons College in Fairfield and began his teaching career at Eldon High School and Washington Junior High in Ottumwa.
After receiving his master's degree from Boston College in 1964, he taught at Ottawa Township High School in Ottawa, Illinois, and coordinated the adult education program in Ottawa for Illinois Valley Community College and taught on campus after retirement from Ottawa High School in 1991. He was a math teacher for 40 years.
He also was a college counselor, a coach and participated in Kiwanis, Cherokee Village Men's Golf Association, the Pepsi-Cola Collectors Club and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
His family and math students were his passion.
He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Ottawa, Illinois.
Survivors include: his wife, Linda; two daughters, Lisa HAMILTON with Trevor Frost of Vista, California, and Nina WHITLOW and husband Robert of Cherokee Village; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother Ron HAMILTON in Minnesota; one sister, Marcene ANDERSON in Iowa; and daughter-in-law, Jamie HAMILTON of Ottawa.
He was preceded in death by: one son, Joel; and one brother, Kenneth.
