Thomas L. GUNN, 82, of Bonaparte died at 3:53 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at Fort Madison Care Center in Fort Madison (note: in Lee Co., IA).
The body has been cremated. A memorial visitation, with family present, will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.
Memorials to Bonaparte First Responders or Farmington EMS can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at PO Box 246, Bonaparte 52620.
Mr. GUNN was born May 3, 1933, in Fort Madison, the son of Charles and Ruth JOHNSON GUNN. He married Patricia TOUT Aug. 29, 1953, in Fort Madison.
Mr. GUNN grew up in Fort Madison and graduated from Fort Madison High School.
He worked at Mercer Machine Works in Fort Madison from 1951-1954, then at Sheaffer Pen Co. as a toolmaker until 1968 when he left to start Gunn Molding & Tooling in the basement of his home. In January of 1969, Gunn Molding & Tooling merged with Riverside Plastics Inc. in Bonaparte where he became a partner and later president and owner.
Mr. GUNN enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, golfing, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed the hundreds of relationships he developed through his business over the years, and nothing gave him more satisfaction than figuring out creative solutions to difficult challenges he encountered in his business life. He also enjoyed keeping up with current events and politics.
Survivors include: his wife; one daughter, Beverly CRAMER and husband Kevin of Bonaparte; two sons, Michael GUNN of Iowa City and Allen GUNN and wife Carol of Bonaparte; five grandchildren; and one sister, Bonnie HOENIG of Fort Madison.
He was preceded in death by: one brother, Donald GUNN; and one sister, Lillian FAHEY.
