Larry M. COOK Sr., 71, of New London, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, at Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Robert Newton officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery in rural Mt. Pleasant (note: in Henry Co., IA), with full military honors conducted by the Henry County Honor Guard.
Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m.

Mr. COOK was born Sept. 27, 1944, in Fairfield, the son of Jasper and Annabelle HAGENS COOK. He married Paula S. WILLIAMS May 9, 1965, in Birmingham.
Mr. COOK served in the United States Army from 1963-1964 and was stationed in Germany.
He worked for the city of Mt. Pleasant as a shop supervisor until his retirement.
He was known for his handyman talents. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. One of his favorite things was singing to his family; he had been to Nashville and had made some recordings.
Mr. COOK was a member of the Dove Fellowship in Olds.
Survivors include: his wife Paula of New London; his children, Larry COOK Jr. and wife Heloni of Olds, Roger COOK and wife Lisa of Hillsboro and Bryan COOK and wife Melissa of Winfield; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, John COOK of Fairfield; and two sisters, Linda GRIDLEY of Fairfield and Joyce MARKIN of Palmyra, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; one grandson; one granddaughter; two brothers, Howard COOK and Delbert COOK; and one sister, Nancy BILLINGSLEY.
