Charles Orren 'Bear' NEILL

Charles Orren "Bear" NEILL, 62, of Ottumwa, died at 6:08 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with the Rev. Don Kirchner and Richard "Rabbi" Decker officiating. The body has been cremated.

Visitation, with the family present, will be one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Patriot Guard Riders or the family.

Mr. NEILL was born Sept. 3, 1953, in Davis County, the son of Vernon Irvin Sr. and Audrey Mae BROWN NEILL. He married Barbara ESSARY June 10, 1972.

Mr. NEILL had been a resident of Eldon most of his life.

He had attended Indian Hills Community College. He had worked for Rockwell International for 30 years.

Mr. NEILL was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders and had served as state captain.

He enjoyed attending dirt tract car racing and demo derbies.

Survivors include: his wife, Barb NEILL; his children, Dawn METCALF of Fairfax, Holly BARNETT of Ottumwa, and Darren NEILL of Lancaster, Missouri; four grandchildren; and one sister, Stella RUSSELL of Newton.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; and one brother, Vernon NEILL Jr.
