Marilyn Ann GOODELL

Marilyn Ann GOODELL, 76, of Batavia, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at Ottumwa Hospice House in Ottumwa (note: in Wapello Co., IA).

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Kremer Funeral Chapel in Batavia. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery following the service.

Visitation will begin at noon on Tuesday, with the family present from 5-7 p.m., at the funeral chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in can be directed (sic) to Calvary Baptist Church.

Marilyn Ann GOODELL

Marilyn Ann GOODELL, 76, of Batavia, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at Ottumwa Hospice House in Ottumwa.

The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Kremer Funeral Chapel in Batavia. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery following the service.

Visitation began at noon today at the funeral chapel, where the family will be present to greet friends from 5-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her honor can be directed to Calvary Baptist Church.

Mrs. GOODELL was born Aug. 20, 1939, the daughter of Roy and Rosella BEYER DAVISON. She married Raymond GOODELL Sept. 7, 1957. he died in 2009.

She grew up in the Davenport area and attended the Holy Family Catholic School in Davenport. Growing up during the tough times of the Great Depression, she left school and entered the workforce, where she worked for Crescent Cracker and Macaroni Company in Davenport.

After their marriage, the GOODELLs lived a short time in Fruitland before moving to Coal Valley, Illinois, where Mr. GOODELL operated the Coal Valley Meat Packing Plant. Mrs. GOODELL became a stay-at-home mother and homemaker.

In 1967, she and her husband purchased a farm near Selma and moved their family there, and she added the job of farmhand to her many duties. The family kept very busy on the farm, but would take time for the occasional family vacation or to go out dancing.

She was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed reading books about the presence of angels. After her many years of providing home-cooked meals, she enjoyed going out to eat, especially for fried chicken. She continued to put family first, attending as many of her grandchildren's activities as she could.

Survivors include: her four children, Tim GOODELL of Fairfield, Anita PUMPHREY of Batavia, Tred GOODELL and wife Jennifer of Bloomfield, and Troy GOODELL and wife Brenda of Batavia; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents and her stepfather; five sisters; one brother; and two half-brothers.
