September 02, 2004Dennis Eugene Ensminger, 52, of Mount Pleasant died at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at his home.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Faith Christian Outreach Church in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Monte Knudsen officiating. The body will then be cremated. Inurnment will be at a later date in Grant Cemetery near Rome.
Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, with family present from 4-6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Dennis Ensminger Memorial, a fund established for his daughters education.
Dennis Eugene Ensminger was born Oct. 13, 1951, in Henry County, the son of Frank and Marie Anderson Ensminger. He married Penelope K. Ross July 17, 1982, in Westwood.
After graduation from Mount Pleasant High School in 1970, he served two years in the United States Army, stationed at Virginia Beach, Va.
An iron worker and farmer, he was co-owner and operator of SRV Reinforcing Inc.
He enjoyed his family, participated in his daughters' activities and schooling and coached the Amateur Softball Association softball team, "The Blast," on which his daughter played. He enjoyed his cows and beagles as well as boating and fishing.
Mr. Ensminger was baptized into the Christian faith.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mary Ensminger of Cedar Rapids, and Kate Ensminger, at home; four brothers, Donnie Ensminger of Mount Pleasant, Jack Ensminger of Lockridge, Wendell Ensminger of Lockridge and Randy Ensminger of Mount Pleasant; and one sister, Janice Daniels of Chattanooga, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
