Odella Mae FRITZ

Odella Mae FRITZ, 94, of Brighton, died Friday morning, Oct. 9, 2015, at New London Specialty Care Center in New London (note: in Henry Co., IA).

A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain, with the Rev. Robert Striegel officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation at the church, with the family, will be 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, with prayers for a Christian wake beginning at 7 p.m.

Memorials for St. Joseph Cemetery, HCI Hospice of Mt. Pleasant or New London Specialty Care Center can be left at the church or mailed to Bernard FRITZ at 708 N. Gear Ave., West Burlington 52655.

Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. FRITZ was born May 8, 1921, in Clear Creek, the daughter of Lawrence Joseph and Emma TINNES SIEREN. She married Maynard FRITZ May 17, 1941, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain. He died Feb. 21, 2002.

Mrs. FRITZ grew up in the Keota-Sigourney area and attended country school.

She was a housewife, but also worked outside the home for several years as a cook at the Stever House, for Parsons College Food Service and at Nelson Nursing Home, all in Fairfield.

Mrs. FRITZ was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Altar & Rosary Society and the Burr Oak Club.

Survivors include: one daughter, Helen L. MENKE and husband Mark of Fort Madison; two sons, Bernard F. FRITZ and wife Sue of West Burlington and James FRITZ and wife Rebecca of Mt. Pleasant; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; two infant daughters, Joyce Ann and Doris Jean; one grandson; three brothers, Wilfred, Cletus and Richard SIEREN; and one sister, Aleda KURTZ.
