Karen DAVIS ENGLE

Karen DAVIS ENGLE, 69, of Hanover, Pennsylvania and formerly of Fairfield, died Friday, Oct. 9 2015, at Cross Keys Village in New Oxford, Pennsylvania.

A celebration of life will be 1:30-4 p.m. Nov. 7 at La Cucina Italian Restaurant in Hanover.

Those wishing to acknowledge her life are encouraged to make donations to a local animal shelter in her name. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.kenworthyfh.com.

Kenworthy Funeral Home Inc. in Hanover is assisting the family.

Mrs. ENGLE was born Jan. 24, 1946, in Princeton, New Jersey, the daughter of Grier DAVIS and Fay FINDLAY DAVIS. She married Richard K. ENGLE June 20, 1980, in Orange Virginia.

Mrs. ENGLE graduated from Fairfield High School in 1964 and attended Parsons College.

She worked in Washington, D.C., and later majored in accounting at Lord Fairfax Community College in Middletown, Virginia. She then worked for Stambaugh Ness PC in Hanover as an accounting specialist for more than 20 years, retiring in 2008.

Even in retirement, she continued to serve several clients during tax season and worked part time for William Therit, Jr. Insurance.

She was an English as a Second Language tutor for the Hanover Literacy Council.

In addition to her family, her greatest loves were travel and genealogical research. Travels took her to Scotland, Ireland and river cruises throughout Europe. Her many trips to Salt Lake City documented generations of her family's history.

Mrs. ENGLE was treasurer of the Gettysburg Region of the Antique Auto Club of America for more than 20 years, as well as a member and treasurer of the Col. Richard McCalister Chapter of the DAR and member of the Daughters of the Confederacy.

Survivors include: her husband; four children, Allison WEAKLEY of Pittsboro, North Carolina, Brian SCHWARZ of Winchester, Virginia, Zachary ENGLE of Hanover, and Gregory JORDAN and wife Leslie of Cincinnati, Ohio; three grandchildren; two sisters, Donna RUPP of Iowa City and Marilyn SWITZER of Holton, Kansas; and two brothers, Michael DAVIS of Longmont, Colorado, and John DAVIS of Placitas, New Mexico.
