Doris I. WINSELL, 72, of rural Douds, died at 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds.

Doris Ilene WINSELL

Doris Ilene WINSELL, 72, of rural Douds, died at 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield after complications due to a stroke.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Jerry Coughron officiating. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery, north of Douds.

Visitation will open at 3 p.m. Friday, with family present from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials to Gideons International Society, Fairfield Camp, can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 15072 197th Road, Douds 52551.

Ms. WINSELL was born May 26, 1943, in rural Selma, the daughter of Paul and Minnie B. GOEHRING WINSELL. She married David Ross FLETCHER July 27, 1967. They divorced. She married Patrick Joseph MACHA Dec. 23, 1993.

Ms. WINSELL attended Selma Consolidated School, then Gray Country School and Ellis Elemtary School south of Douds near her parents' farm. She graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1962 and Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in 1964 with an RN degree.

She joined the Air Force, was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, and worked at Wilford Hall Hospital.

She resigned her commission in the Air Force after attaining the rank of first lieutenant. She and her husband Dave were stationed in Germany and then Yankton, South Dakota, where she attended anesthesia school earning her Certified Nurse Anesthetist Certification. After moving from Yankton, they lived in various places settling in Richmond, Texas.

After marrying Patrick, they settled in Waterloo, where she worked at Covenant Hospital and later at Allen Hospital until 2005.

In 2002, she and her husband bought a farm near the farm her parents owned south of Douds. They moved there in 2008 after selling their home in Waterloo.

She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Keosauqua and Gideons International, Fairfield Camp.

Survivors include: her husband Patrick; one son, David Paul FLETCHER and wife Dora; one daughter, Paula Marie DANELUK; two stepsons, Nicholas STANTON and Tyler Joseph MACHA; four grandchildren; four sisters, Wilma DAVIS of Des Moines, Lila WELLS of Douds, Phillis CONNELLY of Solon and Midge ARNOLD of Oelwein; and one brother, William WINSELL of Ridgeway.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; and ex-husband, David Ross FLETCHER.
