Carl B. ROUSH, 81, of Keosauqua, died at 3:08 a.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at Keosauqua Health Care Center in Keosauqua.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Carl Bruce ROUSH, 81, of Keosauqua, died at 3:08 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at Keosauqua Health Care Center, the formerly Good Samaritan Center.

The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with Jared McAfee officiating. burial of cremains will be in Bonaparte Cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Beer-Barker Post 113, Keosauqua.

Visitation, with family present, will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service Saturday.

Memorials to Beer-Barker Post or Good Samaritan Hospice in Ottumwa can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 306 First St., Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. ROUSH was born Dec. 2, 1933, in Fairfield, the son of Ray Samuel and Elsie Clair BARKER ROUSH. He married Patsy Kay STEINMEYER July 5, 1953, at Bonaparte Baptist Church.

Mr. ROUSH moved as a youth with his family to a farm near Mount Sterling. He graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War (sic - Korean Conflict).

Mr. ROUSH and his wife owned Goodie Garden Café in Keosauqua in the mid-1950s before he joined the Van Buren County survey crew. In 1966, he began working as a livestock feed salesman for Moorman's and later became a district manager.

After he retired from Moorman's, Mr. and Mrs. ROUSH returned to Van Buren County to operate a small farm outside Mount Sterling. During this time, they partnered with their son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Brenda ROUSH, in operating the Mount Sterling Tap, and for a few years, he operated heavy equipment for Cole Construction Co.

Mr. ROUSH was a lifelong Methodist.

Throughout his life, he was active in his community. He was a member of Beer-Barker Post, coached Little League baseball, sponsored 4-H and bowled with local bowling teams. He and his wife were members of the local square dance club in the 1960s.

He liked to hunt and fish and took great joy in watching wildlife and his beloved St. Louis Cardinals, and he loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include: his wife, Patsy; five sons, Tim and wife Nancy of Milton, Jeff and wife Celene, Chris and wife Regina of Newton, Brad and wife Brenda of Mount Sterling, and Kent and wife Teresa of Ottumwa; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Alice GROENE of Annandale, Virginia, and Mildred HUTCHINSON and Frances ROUSH, both of Florissant, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; three brothers, Keith, Samuel and Robert ROUSH; and four sisters, Beatrice PANTING, Janice JUDD, Louise NICHOLS and Hazel Jean ROUSH.
