Betty Jean HAYS

Betty Jean HAYS, 70, of Keosauqua, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, at home.

The body has been cremated. A graveside service and burial will be 10 a.m. Monday in Spencer Cemetery in rural Stockport (note: in Van Buren Co., IA), with Larry Shipley officiating.

Memorials to the family to assist with final expenses can be brought to the service, left at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua or mailed to the family at 20408 Jersey Ave., Keosauqua 52565.

Mrs. HAYS was born Nov. 23, 1944, near Stockport, the daughter of Joseph and Berniece MARTIN CARTER. She married Ron HAYS, and they divorced.

She graduated from Stockport High School.

She lived in Des Moines, Los Angeles, California, and Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, before moving back to Keosauqua in 2013.

Mrs. HAYS worked in the office of a mattress factory in Los Angeles and moved to Minnesota when the company moved its factory there.

Reading was her favorite pastime.

Survivors include: one brother, William J. CARTER of Keosauqua.

Her parents preceded her in death.
