Evelyn Lucille PAYNE

Evelyn Lucille PAYNE, 95, of Washington, Iowa, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015. at McCreedy Home in Washington (note: in Washington Co., IA).

A celebration of life service was held this morning at Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington. Interment was at Finley Chapel Cemetery in rural Trenton.

Mrs. PAYNE was born Jan. 30, 1920, in Henry County, the daughter of D. Dewey and Della Mae BAKER HOOKOM. She married Robert F. PAYNE Jan. 28, 1938, in Memphis, Missouri.

Mrs. PAYNE graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1937.

She helped on the farm until moving to Fairfield where she worked at Jefferson County Hospital until her retirement.

She enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include: three sons, LeRoy PAYNE and wife Dorothy of Fort Madison, Glen RICHARD and wife Jean of Burlington, and Gerald D. "Butch" PAYNE and friend Barb of Burlington; four daughters, Patricia HINKEL of Ottumwa, Kathy LUHN and husband David of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Donna PACHA and husband Dennis of Washington, Iowa, and Janet WELDER and husband David of Unionville, Missouri; several grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Anne GOTT of Carrollton, Texas.

She was preceded in death by: her husband Robert; her parents; one sister, Betty WALKER; one brother, Bill HOOKOM; one daughter, Susan KAY; and one grandson.
