Edythe J. Langdale, 83, of Waterloo and formerly of Germanville, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

The funeral was held Aug. 21 at Faith Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery in Waterloo.

Memorials can be made to Faith Lutheran Church or Allen Memorial Heart Care Center, both in Waterloo.

Mrs. Langdale was born June 26, 1921, in Amburg, Wis., the daughter of Charles and Emma Adler Foss. She was reared by Albert and Anna Diers in Germanville.

She married Melvin Langdale Oct. 11, 1940, in Missouri. He died in 1975.

She was employed by Chamberlain Manufacturing from 1952 until her retirement in 1983.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church for more than 15 years. Hobbies included composing poetry and quilting.

Survivors include four daughters, Carol Reise of Winlock, Wash., Melva Eddington and husband Brian of Castle Rock, Colo., Karen Heineman and husband Ron of Brighton and Patty McDowell and husband Randy of Fairfield; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Doris Glasscock; one sister, Eva Hesseltine; and two brothers, Marvin Foss and Earl Foss.
