Mildred Eloise FERGUSON, 90, of Keosauqua, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, at Keosauqua Health Care Center in Keosauqua (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Mary Hart officiating. Cremation will follow the service, with burial of cremains at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.
Open visitation is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home; family will not be present. Visitation for family and friends will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
Memorials can be made to United Methodist Church, Keosauqua Health Care Center, Evergreen Cemetery or the donor's choice. Memorials and cards can be sent to Marie Carter, 3257 Ash Ave., Hillsboro 52630. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.behnerfh.com.
Mrs. FERGUSON was born Aug. 27, 1925, in Fairfield, the daughter of Glen I. HISEL and Florence G. GRIMES. She married Edwin Harold FERGUSON Sept. 26, 1943, in Memphis, Missouri. He died May 15, 2001.
Mrs. FERGUSON graduated from Fairfield High School with the Class of 1942. She attended Iowa Success Business School in Ottumwa.
Mrs. FERGUSON retired in August 1985 after 23 years as a program assistant with the Van Buren County ASCS. Prior to that, she had worked in different office settings including the Van Buren school district.
She was a longtime resident of Keosauqua and was a member of the United Methodist church. She and her husband were involved with Boy Scouts. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling and square dancing.
Survivors include: daughter-in-law Edith; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; one son, ronald Dean FERGUSON; and two brothers, Gerald HISEL and Steven HISEL.
