Fred E. SPILMAN, 71, of Fairfield, died at 8:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds.

Floyd E. SPILMAN

Floyd E. SPILMAN, 71, of Fairfield, died at 8:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Iowaville Cemetery in rural Selma (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Visitation, with family present, will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Memorials to the family can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 506 W. Stone Ave., Fairfield 52556.

Mr. SPILMAN was born Jan. 23, 1944, near Selma, the son of Don W. and Marjorie WHITING SPILMAN. He married Johanna TROUT Dec. 19, 1964, in Eldon.

He grew up in the Selma community, graduated from Cardinal High School and attended Indian Hills Community College.

Mr. SPILMAN worked at American Chain and Cable and Rockwell International, both in Fairfield. He was a union representative at Rockwell. He also had operated an auto repair shop in Fairfield.

Mr. SPILMAN had been a member of the Machinist Union and the Fairfield Eagles Club.

Survivors include: his wife; one son, Don SPILMAN and wife Shari of Ottumwa; one daughter, Jeri ODELL of Fairfield; three grandchildren; and one sister, Sandra PLOWMAN of Cedar Rapids.

His parents and one brother, Frank SPILMAN, preceded him in death.
