Jasper E. Evans, 90, of Des Moines and formerly of Douds, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at Taylor House of InTrust Hospice in Des Moines of a heart attack.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Leando Cemetery in Leando.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Hamiltons Funeral Home in Des Moines.

Mr. Evans was born May 27, 1914, in Douds, the son of Robert and Mae Evans.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired in 1977 from employment as a tool grinder with John Deere.

He enjoyed bowling, sports and playing bridge.

Survivors include two grandchildren; one sister, Roberta Teeter of Fairfield; and one brother, Richard Stagers of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Betty Cowen; three sisters, Leona Sidwell, Evelyn Young and Leta Swank; and one brother, Stanley Evans.
